本會自2003年4月1日起正式成立,前身為香港業餘體操協會,該協會於1965年由一群熱愛體操運動的人士組織而成,旨在推動香港體操運動的發展。創會初期,總會專注於競技體操的推廣。經過多年的努力,本會已成功推動和發展多種不同類型的體操活動。目前,香港的體操活動已趨多元化,包括男子競技體操、女子競技體操、藝術體操、普及體操、技巧體操、彈網、健美體操及跑酷等。

培訓優秀體操運動員,於國際賽事爭取佳績
本會近年來的成績令人鼓舞,運動員黃曉盈及石偉雄在上歷史性獲得2012年倫敦奧運會參賽資格,其中黃曉盈在平衡木項目中的自創動作被國際體操聯盟(FIG)女子競技體操技術委員會正式命名為「Wong Hiu Ying Angel」。此外,吳翹充於2014年競技體操多哈世界錦標賽和2014年仁川亞運會中,自創的吊環動作也獲FIG男子競技體操技術委員會命名為「Ng Kiu Chung」及「Ng Kiu Chung 2」。石偉雄在2012年倫敦奧運及2020年東京奧運後,及2024年巴黎奧運會成功取得參賽資格,成為本港首位三次參加奧運會的體操運動員。

舉辦大型國際性活動,讓更多市民認識體操
為了使體操運動更加普及,吸引更多市民參與,本會定期舉辦各類型的同樂日、示範表演、訓練班及比賽等活動。香港也曾舉辦多項大型體操活動,使大眾透過現場觀賞進一步了解體操運動的魅力,如2005年的「第二屆亞洲普及體操節」、李寧盃全國技巧體操冠軍賽暨和富社會企業杯香港青少年技巧體操邀請賽、2007年「慶祝香港特別行政區成立十周年─體操精英大匯演」、以及2015年的「香港國際彈網邀請賽」等。2024年的彈網亞洲錦標賽及亞洲分齡賽,進一步推動體操的發展,並使其更具專業化和產業化。

著重教練培訓及裁判發展
本會重視教練與裁判的培訓工作,定期舉辦本地的教練及裁判班,並於每個奧運週期邀請海外專家來港舉辦國際裁判班。同時,我們與國際體操聯盟(FIG)及亞洲體操聯會(AGU)合作,舉辦國際教練班,以提升教練的專業水平,並了解國際最新的教學方法。2020年至2025年間,我們舉辦了超過20個本地及國際教練課程,培訓出超過300位教練,並舉辦了15個本地及國際裁判課程,培訓出超過200位本地裁判,其中35人更成為國際裁判。
展望未來,在中國香港體育協會暨奧林匹克委員會、康樂及文化事務署、香港體育學院及社會各界人士的支持下,本會將繼續全力推動體操運動。我們將嚴格遵守奧林匹克憲章、國際奧委會的守則、中國香港體育協會暨奧林匹克委員會、國際體操聯盟及亞洲體操聯會的會章,並恪守誠信,遵循既定的政策及程序,妥善運作及貫徹本會的宗旨。

 

The association was officially established on April 1, 2003, and its predecessor was the Hong Kong Amateur Gymnastics Association, founded in 1965 by a group of individuals passionate about gymnastics. The aim was to promote the development of gymnastics in Hong Kong. In its early years, the association focused on promoting Artistic Gymnastics. Through continuous efforts, the association has successfully promoted and developed various types of gymnastics activities. Currently, gymnastics activities in Hong Kong, including Men's Artistic Gymnastics, Women's Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Gymnastics For All, Acrobatic Gymnastics, Trampoline, Aerobics Gymnastics, and Parkour.

Nurturing elite gymnasts to strive for excellence in major international competitions
Our outstanding gymnasts have achieved encouraging results. Gymnasts Wong Hiu Ying Angel and Shek Wai Hung historically qualified for the 2012 London Olympics. Wong Hiu Ying Angel's self-created routine on the balance beam being officially named "Wong Hiu Ying Angel" by the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). Additionally, Ng Kiu Chung earned recognition during the 2014 Artistic Gymnastics Doha World Championships and the Incheon Asian Games for his self-created rings routines, which were officially named "Ng Kiu Chung" and "Ng Kiu Chung 2" by FIG. Shek Wai Hung successfully qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, making him the first gymnast from Hong Kong to compete in the Olympics for a third time after the 2012 London and the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Organizing large-scale gymnastics events to raise public awareness
To promote gymnastics further and attract more citizens to participate in gymnastics activities, the association regularly organizes various fun days, demonstration performances, training classes, and competitions. Numerous large-scale gymnastics events have been held locally, allowing the public to gain a deeper understanding of gymnastics through live viewing and to experience the charm of the sport. Notable events include the "2nd Asia Gymnastics For All Festival" in 2005, the "Li Ning Cup - National Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships, in 2007 the “HKSAR 10th Anniversary Gymnastics Extravaganza", the "Hong Kong International Trampoline Invitational" in 2015. In 2024, Hong Kong hosted Asia's largest trampoline events, the Trampoline Asian Championships and the Trampoline Asian Age Group Competitions, further promoting the professional, and industrialized development of gymnastics in Hong Kong.

Focusing on coaching and judging development
The association also places great emphasis on the training of gymnastics coaches and judges. Beside regularly holding local coaching and judging course, the association also invites overseas experts to conduct international judging courses in each Olympic cycle. We collaborate with FIG and Asian Gymnastics Union (AGU) to conduct international coaching courses, enhancing the level of coaches and keeping them informed of the latest teaching methods. Between 2020 and 2025, we organized over 20 local and international coaching courses, training more than 300 coaches, as well as over 15 local and international judging courses, training over 200 local judges, of whom 35 have become international judges.

Looking forward, with the support of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Hong Kong Sports Institute, and individuals from various sectors of society, the association will continue to dedicate itself to the promotion of gymnastics. Furthermore, we will strictly adhere to the Olympic Charter, the International Olympic Committee Code of ethics, Articles of Association of Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the FIG, and the AGU, while upholding integrity and complying with established policies and procedures to manage operations effectively and uphold the mission of the association.
